Viglacera celebrates 50 years of establishment

Industrialization and modernization have been consistent and overarching policies of our Party and State throughout the process of building and defending the nation. Over the past 50 years, Viglacera Corporation - JSC has actively contributed to this process, achieving numerous significant and proud accomplishments for the country.

On July 29th, in Hanoi, Viglacera Corporation - JSC held a grand ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary (1974-2024).

During this traditional event commemorating Viglacera's 50th anniversary, the company was honored to welcome distinguished guests, including: Đinh Tiến Dũng, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Trịnh Đình Dũng, former Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyễn Thanh Nghị, member of the Central Party Committee, Minister of Construction; Lê Quốc Minh, member of the Central Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhân Dân Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; along with many other leaders from various localities, associations, partners, shareholders, and distributors of Viglacera, both domestic and international.

With deep affection and warmth for Viglacera, former leaders of the Ministry of Construction, generations of Viglacera's leaders, staff, and workers from various periods gathered at the ceremony, coming together under the "Viglacera Love House." Viglacera employees across the country eagerly followed the monumental event through live broadcasts from the National Convention Center.

The speech highlighted that 50 years ago, the Construction Ceramic Tile Company was established with the mission to produce basic construction materials for the reconstruction and development of the country after reunification. During the "Doi Moi" period, Viglacera embraced its pioneering role, committing to modern technology investments to produce Vietnam's first construction glass, sanitary ware, and tiles, replacing imported goods and providing significant benefits to the industry, the nation, and its people.

In the subsequent years, Viglacera successfully introduced autoclaved aerated concrete products / AAC (2010), ALC panels (2018), energy-efficient Low-E glass and Solar Control glass (2016), Ultra Clear glass, and Sintered Stone (2023). Viglacera's product range is incredibly diverse, meeting the needs of the construction industry.

Viglacera's real estate sector began in 1998, and though it has only 26 years of experience, it has achieved remarkable success. Viglacera now owns 15 industrial parks domestically and internationally, covering over 4,000 hectares and attracting investments totaling 18 billion USD, with foreign investors accounting for 70% of that.

Viglacera is also an investor in 18 commercial and social housing projects, including a 5-star resort that has earned the EDGE Advanced green certification from the International Finance Corporation (IFC - World Bank). Viglacera’s social housing and worker housing projects in recent years are clear evidence of the company's humanitarian approach to business. It's evident that Viglacera has consistently balanced its dual responsibilities: ensuring industry development goals while fulfilling social responsibilities.

Throughout its development journey, Viglacera has undergone several operational model changes. In 2014, the Corporation successfully transitioned from a state-owned enterprise to a publicly listed company, steadfastly pursuing strategic objectives, accelerating development investments, and achieving sustainable economic efficiency.

Now, ten years post-equitization, Viglacera continues to strive, implementing effective solutions, and actively shifting production investments toward green development. Viglacera is also a leading brand in building materials, industrial park infrastructure, and social housing.

The company's business performance has been notable: Parent company pre-tax profits increased tenfold, consolidated pre-tax profits nearly tripled, total consolidated assets doubled, and equity as per the 2023 consolidated financial statements more than tripled. The total dividends corresponding to the State's capital portion since Viglacera's transition to a joint-stock company have reached 2,165 billion VND.

Viglacera's achievements have been recognized by the Party and State. Few companies have a lifespan of half a century, and even fewer have made such significant contributions to production technology, improving the lives of workers. The company has twice been awarded the First-Class Independence Order.

At the 50th anniversary ceremony, Viglacera was honored to receive the Ministry of Construction's Excellent Emulation Flag for outstanding achievements in 2023, presented by Nguyễn Thanh Nghị, a member of the Central Party Committee and Minister of Construction.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Construction Nguyễn Thanh Nghị highly praised Viglacera's proactive and determined efforts in implementing the economic policies of the Party and State, as well as the directives of the Ministry of Construction. Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị emphasized, "As a key player in the construction industry, Viglacera has always been at the forefront of innovation, green and smart development, applying scientific and technological advancements in production, business, and corporate governance. The company has also excelled in initiating technical improvements, protecting the environment, enhancing the material and spiritual well-being of its workers, actively participating in social welfare activities, and successfully carrying out the privatization and restructuring of state-owned enterprises. Viglacera's 50-year journey of construction and development is one filled with sweat, effort, and intellect, yet it is a journey of great honor and pride for generations of leaders, staff, and workers.

This journey has fostered a tradition of resilience, high determination, and passionate dedication among Viglacera's collective workforce—a place that has nurtured and developed many key leaders in the construction industry. Celebrating with Viglacera's staff and workers today, with its rich tradition and the excellent results achieved over the past 50 years, I have great confidence in the corporation's new, comprehensive, groundbreaking, and sustainable developments in the coming time, ensuring that it remains a leading enterprise in the construction industry and the nation."

The Minister's encouragement inspired great enthusiasm among Viglacera's workforce across generations. Beyond excelling in its duties within the construction industry, Viglacera is also one of the few companies to have achieved successful investments in the Cuban market. Notable examples include the ceramic tile and sanitary ware production plant project and the Vimariel Industrial Park project in the Mariel Special Development Zone in Cuba. These projects significantly contribute to fulfilling the political mission of supporting Cuba's socio-economic development and strengthening the special solidarity between the two countries.

The leadership of Viglacera Corporation - JSC was delighted and moved as they, on behalf of all the company's employees, proudly received the Excellent Emulation Flag from Minister of Construction Nguyễn Thanh Nghị.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tuấn, Chairman of the Board of Viglacera Corporation - JSC, expressed gratitude for the Minister's support towards Viglacera. He also clearly articulated the leadership's perspective during this significant milestone for the corporation: "The 50th anniversary of Viglacera's founding is not only an occasion to reflect on our glorious past but also a time to look ahead to the future with new goals and aspirations. In the context of increasing global integration, it is essential for every enterprise to adapt and enhance its competitiveness. 

Viglacera's vision is to become a leading economic group in both the Building Materials and Real Estate sectors. We will prioritize maximizing the capabilities of our existing and upcoming building materials production plants. We will continue to research and invest in developing new, environmentally friendly building materials, and international-standard, green, and smart industrial parks. Additionally, we aim to construct 50,000 social housing units to contribute to the Ministry of Construction's goal of 1 million social housing units by 2030."

Viglacera leaders from various eras took commemorative photos on this significant anniversary in the company's history. They represent a collective leadership that, during their time, passionately brought modern building material production technologies from around the world to Vietnam.

The CEO of Viglacera warmly held the hand of the former leader, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Phúc, who served as the Deputy Director of the Ceramics and Tiles Company (the predecessor of Viglacera Corporation today).

Nearly 200 employees, representing over 1,300 workers from eight Viglacera companies in the southern region, gathered during this historic moment, all tuning in to the live broadcast from Hanoi to follow the ceremony's proceedings. Many employees expressed their feelings on their personal social media, stating: "Being a member of the Viglacera family is a great happiness for me. We hope that Viglacera continues to grow stronger!" 

Representatives from the eight member units of the corporation in the southern region gathered together for this significant celebration. They watched the historical journey unfold on screen, honoring the generations that came before them and expressing their passion and commitment to the future path of the corporation.

The product display areas, showcasing Viglacera's production capabilities, became popular spots for attendees to check in during the ceremony. These modern products beautifully transformed the space into a luxurious and captivating artistic environment.
