Viglacera Corporation - The 40 year journey of development and sustainable growth
In the morning of July 18th 2014, Viglacera Corporation - JSC celebrated its 40th anniversary of establishment 7/1974 -7/2014 at the National Convention Center. On this occasion, the Corporation officially inaugurated Viglacera Hall of Fame.

Viglacera Hall of Fame is built on 1200m2 area on the 3rd floor of Viglacera Tower and is one of the projects celebrating 40 years of Viglacera development. Also at the 40th anniversary of establishment, Viglacera Corporation - JSC was honourly awarded the 1st class Independence Medal for the 2nd time (the 1st time was in 2009 on the occasion of its 35th anniversary).

From the beginning, with 18 enterprises producing small clay bricks using artisanal production technology, Viglacera has now become a leading manufacturer and trader in building materials in Vietnam, as well as a reputable investor in property development with nearly 12 thousand employees and 40 subsidiaries. The 40th anniversary of establishment was the occassion for lots of Viglacera generations gathering to review the lessons learnt, nurture tradition and create next successes.

Viglacera is a pioneer in technology investment in building material production
Viglacera Corporation is a pioneer in technology investment in building material production, playing an important role in the overall development of the construction industry in Vietnam. Especially, being introduced when the country had just experienced a prolonged resistance and faced many hardships, not yet opened integration, Viglacera building material products still met the demand for the development and reconstruction of the country.
During the 40 year journey of construction and development, Viglacera constantly maintains its leading position in manufacturing most kinds of building materials in Vietnam such as: building glass (1990), sanitary ware and ceramic tiles (1994), granite tiles (1996), cotto tiles (2002), etc.; and in investment – applying the latest technology in manufacturing: tunnel kiln technology (1990) in manufacturing clay bricks. From the very first sanitary ware product sets, building glass sqms, and bricks, Viglacera has created a foundation for the building material industry. To date, every year, the total capacity of Viglacera has reached 15 million sets of sanitary ware products, 450 million m2 of titles, 160 million m2 of standard glass. Currently, Viglacera owns 03 glass manufacturing plants in which the Cooperation with NSG Japan in 1994 is the first Joint Venture with foreign producers of float glass. Branded Viglacera products which could be found across the country are replacing imported ones and exported to over 40 countries and territories around the world.
In the coming time, continuing to implement policies of the Party and State, Viglacera will focus on “the revolution of green scientific technology" in building materials by investing, producing building material products that are environmentally friendly, such as autoclaved aerated concrete, clinker, low-e energy saving glass, tiles and sanitary ware dirt repellent nano-coating, water-saving showerheads ...
Pioneer in social housing development
In recent years, implementing the policies of government and direction of the Ministry of Construction, while capturing the growing demand in key economic sectors of the country, Viglacera, with its strength and capacity, has joined real estate markets (RE) and built lots of industrial zones (IZ) and urban areas around the country. Thus, it has become a trusted destination for domestic and foreign investors, as well as thousands of poor households, contributing to changes in many regions and quality of life. Viglacera is now the owner of 16 projects with 9 subsidiaries specializing in this field.
Viglacera put a strong mark on the market with pioneering role in social housing development and is now a leading investor in Vietnam, contributing to the development strategy of the national housing till 2020. Viglacera demonstrated its community responsibility - responsibility for social welfare. Viglacera social housing is for low-income people but not "low quality", because the apartments are suitably designed, in harmony with the landscape, using high quality building materials provided by subsidiaries with preferential prices, and environmentally friendly. Especially, the low-income housing area in Dang Xa meets 5 strict requirements of the Vietnam Association of Architects and is awarded the "Green architecture of Vietnam".
Up to date, the number of apartments for low-income people of Viglacera accounted for one third of the total number of apartments in Hanoi and Viglacera continues investing in this field. Most recently, Viglacera inaugurated the low-income housing area phase 2 and organized groundbreaking of the social housing phase 3 (Urban area in Dang Xa - Gia Lam, Hanoi)
Active in implementing industrialization and modernization, industrial development
As a pioneer in investment and production of new products in building materials and also in research and development of green and environmentally friendly materials, Viglacera has played a significant role in the process of industrialization and modernization. Viglacera building materials are manufactured using high technology, minimizing adverse environmental impacts. Viglacera products meet increasing demands of people, in different market segments, and contribute significantly to the export turnovers of the country. Now Viglacera building material products are installed in many large projects in Vietnam according to standards of aesthetics, quality and sustainability. Besides, with 40 subsidiaries, Viglacera provides jobs to nearly 12,000 employees, with continuous professional and skill training for them.
On the other hand, in the field of real estate, Viglacera also has important contributions to the industrialization and modernization of the country, as it solves the housing needs for thousands of low-income people given the shrinking land and rising housing prices in the capital. Viglacera’s development of industrial zones such as Tien Son, Yen Phong, makes it more outstanding in this field. Viglacera industrial zones succeed in attracting investment from foreign enterprises such as Samsung, Orion, Flexcom, etc. contributing billions of dollars to the export turnovers nationwide. The Viglacera industrial zones always offer planning solutions that ensure modern structure, synchronized infrastructure, suitable position, diversified services and security. To continue replicating efficiency from IZs, in the coming years, Viglacera continues investing in 4 new industrial zones with a total area of over 1000 hectares. Viglacera invested in industrial waste treatment stations, waste water treatment stations, and landscaping in its IZs, so as to ensure a green environment, and IZ operation according to international standards.
Continuous growth and development - from efficient restructuring of state enterprise
During 40 years of development, Viglacera has been growing more strongly; the targets of charter capital, revenue, profits, have witnessed a constant increase. Viglacera is believed to be one of businesses less affected by the market economy. Even in the recession year 2012 - 2013, particularly difficult for enterprises operating in building materials and real estate, Viglacera still retained its growth rate and completed business plan assigned by the Ministry of Construction.
Total Charter capital of Viglacera shows a constant growth: In 2014, it is 2,645 billion, indicating an increase of more than 15.3 times compared to 1990; In the first 6 months of 2014, profit of the entire corporation exceeds 14%, revenues are 8% higher than planned. With this profit level, Viglacera has achieved 85% of its registration with the Ministry of Construction in 2014. In the last 6 months of 2014, Viglacera strives to reach profit target of 155 billion and the full-year profit of 270 billion.
Viglacera actively going ahead with the restructuring helped it to stand firm throughout the economic crisis. Besides, Viglacera always focuses on its core business, intensive development, "professionalisation", improving productivity and quality of building materials according to the market demand.
Corporate culture, human resources – the solid foundation to put Viglacera forward
Reasons for such achievements are Viglacera’s own corporate culture and human resources, which were built and preserved by many generations of leaders and staff.
The backbone for Viglacera development during the last 40 years despite tough market conditions was its human resources. Generations of Viglacera leaders and employees were very consistent in training workforce with specialized skills and being fully aware of the "Viglacera Culture".
Respect, solidarity, mutual assistance are the core culture through the development of Viglacera. The corporation attracts thousands of staff, employees from across the country. They are building a “Viglacera house" stronger and stronger. Physical and spiritual life activities for staff were focused right from Viglacera wage policy to care for the spiritual life through activities culture, arts, sports facility.
People are always of Viglacera top concerns. Recently, Viglacera continue to pioneer in human resources training - training according to international standards. Viglacera has signed contract with Proskills UK, a vocational training group of UK, to boost the training and vocational skill development according to international standards in the field of building materials.
Drastically in the renovation and restructuring according to the guidelines of the Party, the Government and the Ministry of Construction, Viglacera has transformed itself to a joint stock company, named Viglacera Corporation – Joint Stock Company, and definitely will have more opportunities as well as challenges. However with a 40 year tradition, with valuable lessons from generations, Viglacera employees and staff are ready to burden on their shoulders of new responsibilities, to improve performance, contributing to national industrialization and modernization.
