Viglacera College: Emphasis on Training High-Quality Human Resources

On the occasion of Vietnam Teacher's Day, Viglacera Corporation and Viglacera College celebrated the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teacher's Day (November 20) and the 2023 Training Conference.

The event was attended by representatives from the General Department of Vocational Education, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Ninh province, the Management Board of Industrial Zones in Bac Ninh, the leadership of Viglacera Corporation, former leaders of the corporation, member units within the corporation, representatives from Samsung Group, affiliated training units, generations of teachers from Viglacera College, and outstanding student representatives.

During the conference, delegates heard a report from the Organization Department of Viglacera Corporation on the human resources development in 2023 and the action plan for the corporation in 2024. They also watched a video summarizing the training activities of Viglacera College in 2023 and the training plan for 2024.

In 2023, the total enrollment and training target of the college reached 8,452 students, achieving 116% of the 2023 plan, a 21% increase compared to 2022. This included 479 students in the college program (5.7%), 2,496 students in vocational skills training (29.5%), 2,553 students in occupational safety training (30.2%), 1,477 students in cultural work (17.5%), 735 students in skills training (8.7%), and 712 students in management skills training (8.2%).

In addition to focusing on training for the main manufacturing sectors of the corporation, the college also expanded training in new fields such as Korean language, electrical engineering, electronics, and information technology (accounting for 75.2% of the total college training scale)...

Regarding research activities in 2023, the college carried out one research task in collaboration with the corporation to compile and update teaching materials for five construction material production professions in line with the international skill standards adjusted by Viglacera Corporation.

Simultaneously, the college emphasized the professional development of lecturers, especially those teaching the five construction material production majors, and focused on improving the quality of teaching. Through department and college-level lectures, the college evaluated the quality of its lecturer team, identifying outstanding lecturers and lectures that were innovative, unique, and provided new experiences for students.

For the development direction of the training program in 2024 and the following years, aiming to effectively meet the labor needs of the corporation and society, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, the Principal of the college, stated that the college would focus on developing existing strengths and exploring and expanding markets beyond. Accordingly, in 2024 and the subsequent years, the college would closely follow the production and business activities of units and the technology development investment programs of businesses within the corporation to offer relevant and practical training content. Particularly, there would be a strong focus on researching green production technologies in various fields, introducing training programs to supplement related knowledge, such as efficient energy management, internal auditors, greenhouse gas emissions audits, aerodynamics simulation technology, energy-saving solutions, and resource reuse...

At the same time, the college would concentrate on the current majors being trained according to the needs of the Samsung Group and individuals and organizations outside the society; survey the current situation of human resources in companies under the industrial zones managed by Viglacera; other industrial zones in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, and nearby areas to supply appropriate training products to meet the labor needs of businesses; strengthen cooperation relationships to provide skilled labor for businesses.

Through this, the college hopes to continue receiving guidance and support from the corporation to facilitate its access to investors in the corporation's industrial zones; invest in additional facilities for the college; enhance collaboration with the corporation's partners to transfer technology and provide equipment within the corporation.

For the local community, the college hopes to receive support in providing and introducing investors in the area to enable the college to reach them; continue to have preferential policies and support in vocational training for local labor...

The college also desires to continue receiving cooperation from businesses, partners to enable the college to keep pace with the timely training needs of businesses and create conditions for the college to deploy fast and effective courses...

The conference recorded many expert opinions on the profession, requests for human resources development, training of human resources, and new points in vocational education from attending delegates. Additionally, the signing ceremony of training cooperation contracts and training contracts with educational institutions and businesses also took place.

Representing the leadership of the General Department of Vocational Education, Mr. Nguyen Quang Viet, the head of the Quality Assurance Inspection Division, highly appreciated the results achieved by Viglacera College in recent years. The college's training model has closely aligned with the activities of businesses, in line with the direction of vocational education development. Mr. Viet also shared at the conference that Vietnam's vocational training quality ranked 97th, rising more than 70 places from 2019 according to the assessment by CEOs of non-state regional companies in the World Economic Forum held last week. He also suggested that the college should focus on strengths and take advantage of opportunities to develop additional training programs for external businesses, such as logistics, warehouse management, and operations...

He affirmed that the corporation would launch a development program for the next phase that goes beyond innovation, focuses on high-tech development, uses fewer resources, and is environmentally friendly to attract businesses and investors to green production. He also directed that the college's activities must be linked not only to the corporation but also to businesses outside the corporation. The college's training products must be accepted by businesses, and learners must find employment. At the same time, he hoped that in the coming year, the college would see many changes in the quality of its training programs, and directors and training personnel of businesses would conduct specific assessments of individual personnel and organize additional training and retraining for cases that do not meet requirements...
