26 students from Viglacera’s subsidiaries were granted UK certificate under pilot assessment program of Proskills UK Group

In the afternoon of 15/01/2015, Viglacera held a summary ceremony for the assessment pilot program with UK standards – under cooperation projects between Viglacera Corporation and Proskills UK Group. Viglacera has become a pioneer in vocational training of building materials with international quality standards in Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony, from the British Council in Vietnam, there were Ms. Tran Van Anh - Director of higher education and vocational training programmes, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Chi - Social Management and Development; from Proskills National Skills Academy there were Mr. Jonathan Ledger - CEO, Mr. Andy Rotherham - Consultant; from Viglacera Corporation, there were General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy General Directors, Directors of manufacturing subsidiaries, together with Viglacera Vocational College staff and students.

The college pays special attention to training high-quality staff for the plants, and subsidiaries of Viglacera Corporation.

Mr.Jonathan Ledger – CEO of Proskills UK Group evaluated the progress and results of implementing cooperation

Under support of the British Council Vietnam, Viglacera Corporation has partnered with Proskills UK Group in strengthening training and vocational skills according to international standards of construction materials. Proskills UK Group is a skill development organization and grants certificates to industries, thus has a great impact on education and skills training in the UK and internationally. Highlights of Proskills UK Group is its focus on assisting enterprises to solve priorities of improving productivity and competitiveness as well as to develop skills and training services for employees.

Attending the ceremony, Ms. Tran Van Anh - Director of higher education and vocational training programmes, British Council Vietnam highly appreciated efforts of Viglacera and Proskills, and addressed that the serious cooperation between 2 parties helped achieve milestones in the cooperation. Through this partnership, British Council wishes to improve the quality of labor in Vietnam, enhance the competitive position of Vietnam versus other countries.

The cooperation between Viglacera and Proskills UK Group has been implemented within 16 months. Graduates from Viglacera Vocational College that were trained under this new model would be full of confidence to meet rigorous demands of employers, managers and contribute to the affirmation "Studying at universities is not the only right path to success."

Students in the assessment pilot program discussed knowledge, experience and desires to be involved in the cooperation

After lots of efforts of 02 parties, the cooperation has so far achieved remarkable results: Proskills UK granted Certificate of UK standards and quality assurance processes to 98 skills standards for 62 vocational work placements under direct production and to 30 common standards for all 05 occupational groups of the Corporation; General Directorate of Vocational Training allows the use of 05 sets of standards certified by Proskills in developing a pilot training program in the document No. 1208 / CDN-DNCQ dated 07.09.2015; Proskills UK granted Certificate for developing vocational training programmes according to national occupational skills standards for building materials, which meet UK standards and UK quality assurance processes.

Representative for the British Council, British Council Vietnam presented the international partnership award of the year to the international skill development cooperation program between Viglacera and Proskills UK. Previously, Mr. Jonathan Ledger has received the award in the UK

Besides, on 17/11/2015, the British Council awarded the British Council International Partnership of the Year - Award of excellent international cooperation program of the year to the international skill development cooperation program between Viglacera and Proskills UK representing Vietnam.

Especially, at the ceremony, 26 students were granted UK certificates of the assessment pilot program.

General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan made a speech at the ceremony

General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan said: period 2015 - 2020 is the one of deeper integration, particularly human factors, which would determine the success and growth of one business. Thus, Viglacera has been actively implementing training programmes of high quality human resources and its focal point was Viglacera Vocational College. Regarding cooperation between the College and Proskills UK Group, the General Director requested both parties to focus on rapid and quality implementation; the College continues to improve quality as certified by the United Kingdom and to open international training class of building materials.

Cooperative activities between Viglacera Corporation and Proskills UK Group has contributed to implementing Vocational Strategy 2011 - 2020 of the Government of Vietnam, particularly in objectives of program and curriculum development, of vocational training linked to labor market and the participation of enterprises, of promoting international cooperation on vocational training. The cooperation would provide human resources with international standards for building materials sector in Vietnam and further for businesses in Southeast Asian and in the region, also mark a new milestone in vocational training of building materials production.
