ViGuard™ Technology on Viglacera Sanitary Ware: Antibacterial Protection, Elevating the Standards of the Modern Bathroom

During the days when the entire country is enthusiastically striving to celebrate the grand 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2/9/1945 – 2/9/2025), Viglacera’s sanitary ware industry officially announced: Viglacera’s ViGuard™ antibacterial technology has been recognized by SGS for producing sanitary ware samples with superior antibacterial effectiveness.

Regarding ViGuard™, this is a nano-ceramic glaze technology that integrates ultra-fine antibacterial particles directly during the production process and is treated at high temperatures, creating a uniform, glossy surface that is highly resistant to dirt. This distinctive feature results in Viglacera sanitary ware glaze surfaces achieving outstanding antibacterial capability, capable of inhibiting and destroying harmful bacteria on the product surface.

Test results at SGS showed that after 24 hours of contact, two common and dangerous bacterial strains – Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (Staph aureus) – were almost completely eliminated on the ViGuard™-applied samples, while in the control samples, the bacterial count skyrocketed to millions of units. This demonstrates that ViGuard™ acts like an invisible yet highly effective shield in humid, high-temperature spaces that are constantly subject to strict hygiene requirements.

The level of satisfaction is further enhanced when long-standing issues such as yellowing and the need to use large amounts of cleaning chemicals are replaced by a bright, long-lasting surface that is easy to clean, limiting the release of harmful chemicals into the environment. As harmful risks are reduced, a healthier living environment is established.

Many questions arise: When did Viglacera master ViGuard™ technology, and how can Vietnamese consumers easily recognize and access this advanced technology?

The answer is that Viglacera has always remained steadfast in its principle that products must not only meet strict requirements for export but also set standards for domestic consumer goods. Therefore, immediately after achieving success in export products to the US, Australia, and Arab markets, ViGuard™ is now officially being applied to products sold in the domestic market.

In the initial stage, this technology will be integrated into several product lines such as smart toilets, one-piece toilets, and premium washbasins. Products applying ViGuard™ antibacterial technology will have identification labels on their packaging and product bodies, making it easy for consumers to choose. This is just the beginning of the roadmap to expand ViGuard™ application across all Viglacera sanitary ware product lines in the near future.

A Viglacera representative shared: “After the success in producing antibacterial tiles, we aim to bring consumers sanitary ware products with almost absolute antibacterial capability, while also delivering a persistent message: Viglacera will always innovate technology for human health, turning the aspiration of creating modern, safe, and sustainable living spaces into reality for every Vietnamese family.”

Not only with the ViGuard™ antibacterial technology, but Viglacera’s sanitary ware sector has also been an area of focus and investment by the Corporation for many years. A large Science and Technology Fund was established with the goal of modernizing production lines, automating processes, and enhancing product quality.

This Fund has proven highly effective in generating a series of technological breakthroughs in the sanitary ware industry, specifically: high-pressure casting systems for ceramics; the application of automatic robots and automated machining/grinding machines; low-pressure casting technology; and PVD surface protection coating for faucets. These are advanced technologies from Italy, introduced in Vietnam for the first time. Particularly, Viglacera toilets have been upgraded with the new Max Vortex flushing system, delivering quiet performance, water savings, and environmental friendliness.

Viglacera sanitary ware is an important product group within the Viglacera building materials ecosystem. Products such as: Energy-saving glass, which reduces electricity consumption and blocks UV rays. Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC), lightweight, soundproof, heat-insulating, and reducing CO₂ emissions. Sintered stone, replacing natural stone mining, applied in interior design from living rooms to bathrooms. Ultra-clear glass, widely used in shower enclosures, office partitions, apartments, enhancing aesthetics in living spaces, and also applied in solar panels.

The combination of these modern technologies not only delivers safe and environmentally friendly products but also reflects Viglacera’s long-term commitment to improving quality of life, protecting the ecosystem, and affirming its vision for sustainable development.

About SGS Group: SGS is recognized as the world’s leading organization in product testing, inspection, and certification, with a network of over 2,600 offices and laboratories worldwide. SGS is also known for its rigorous international-standard inspection, verification, and certification processes. Viglacera submitted several product samples manufactured with ViGuard™ technology to SGS for testing.
