Groundbreaking the expanded construction (314ha) of Yen Phong Industrial Zone, Viglacera aims to attract $10 billion in FDI

In an atmosphere of the new year, the 86th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the success of the 12th National Party Congress, on 07/03/2016, Viglacera Corporation - JSC solemnly organized a groundbreaking ceremony of Expanded Yen Phong 1 Industrial Zone. Yen Phong Industrial Zone Phase I is currently being evaluated as a model industrial zone which attracts the largest investment of the country, worth nearly $ 8 billion, contributed 20% of national exports with USD 28 billion in 2015

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Quang Hung, - Deputy Minister of Construction, Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien- Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of People's Council of Bac Ninh Province, Mr. Nguyen Huu Quat, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Bac Ninh, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh - Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of Bac Ninh Province, and other people from Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, people's Council, people's Committee, and local people. Leaders from Ministry of Planning and Investment, Viglacera Corporation, the foreign partners and representative officials from investment promotion organizations of Korea, Japan, EU, the leader of corporations, domestic/foreign enterprises which have been investing in Viglacera ‘s Industrial Parks.

Yen Phong Industrial Zone located in Bac Ninh province with total area of 658.71 ha, launched in 2005, is a good area where many big brands such as Samsung, Orion, Flexcom, Dongsin, Mobase, Dawo Vina, Hansol choose to invest in. Phase 1 of the project with an area of 344.8 ha was launched in 2005 and have basically been filled after more than ten years. This is the basis for Viglacera Corporation to start construction of Expanded Yen Phong Industrial Zone with additional area of 314 ha.

In 2015, with investment decisions more $ 3 billion from Samsung in Yen Phong Industrial Zone, to date, IPs have attracted a total investment of nearly $ 8 billion, including $ 7.2 billion from FDI . Can appreciate, Yen Phong Industrial Zone is one of the IPs Viglacera effective land use / highest total capital of the country, with a total area of 246ha of industrial land, on average, each hectare of land Yen Phong Industrial Zone has attracted billions of dollars invested 0:31. Viglacera Yen Phong Industrial Zone also contributed largely to the export value of Bac Ninh province alone in 2015 the export value of enterprises in industrial zones reached 10.3 billion dollars, compared with export value in 2015 the province is over 25 billion dollars.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of Korcham, Mr. Ryu Hang Ha highly recognized the relationship between Vietnam and Korea, like a relationship of two brothers. Particularly South Korean businesses which are investing in Viglacera’s industrial parks are very happy about the professional services, synchronous infrastructure, especially facilitating of administrative procedures in Bac Ninh Province. This is an advantage offered to new investors interested in investing in Vietnam.

Representatives of the clients who are doing business in Yen Phong Industrial Zone, Mr. Lee Je Hyun Deputy CEO of Samsung Display Vietnam said the reasons Samsung decided to build plants in Yen Phong Industrial Zone are because this project has important political economic meaning, located in the heart of the economic development triangle in the North, with extremely favorable transportation: located on Highway 18 connecting Hanoi and Quang Ninh, close to Highway 1A; 30km from Noi Bain international airport; 140km from Hai Phong seaport (about 1 hour 30 minutes of travel), 120km from Quang Ninh seaport (2 hours of travel), 150km from Friendship International Checkpoint (over 2 hours of travel). Especially, with the maximum support from leaders of Bac Ninh Province, comprehensive collaboration with Viglacera Corporation in terms of complete infrastructure, housing services for workers, etc, this Industrial Zone has met all requests from Samsung.

Viglacera Yen Phong Industrial Zone was built with objectives to deploy the overall planning of social-economic development of Bac Ninh, making Bac Ninh an industrial province with modern trends, creating a premise to become central city by 2020. With specific objectives of province's labor resources development, creating jobs for workers, economic and social stability, diversification of industry in the province, creating favorable conditions for investment environment, attracting FDI to invest in industrial zones, which focuses on developing high-tech, environmentally friendly industries; economic and social development towards civilization and modern; improve the efficiency of import-export in compliance with sustainable development goals, as a boost for the regional economy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Director of Industrial Park & Urban Area Management Department - Ministry of Planning and Investment has evaluated Viglacera Yen Phong Industrial Park one of the best industrial parks, and an industrial park model of the nation. The expansion of Yen Phong Industrial Zone leverage Bac Ninh to the leading group in the country in attracting FDI in recent years with the aim to attract $10 billion investment. Besides, this project also contributes to accelerate the development of electronic-telecommunication industry , high-tech industry, green-clean industry, and to make Bac Ninh a center of this industry in Vietnam.

Assessment of the development of Yen Phong Industrial Zone, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung said Yen Phong IZ not only made a great contribution to the industrial production value, export value to Bac Ninh province, but enterprises in Yen Phong Industrial Zone also significantly contributed to social welfare and community development. Those businesses have created jobs for more than 60,000 industrial workers and 4,000 service employees, making stable jobs, not only for local workers but also attract workers from other provinces.
